Fisher & Paykel or Haier? Same dryer, different badge
Fisher & Paykel sits inside the Haier group; the dryers come off shared platforms. The DE8060P1, DE8060P2 and DE8060P3 condensers and the DC8060 are the Haier HD80-01 and HDC80E1 behind a different front. The DH8060 and DH9060 heat pumps (P1, P2, P3, C1, PG, FS1, FSG1) are the Haier HDHP80 and HDHP90 family: HDHP80A1, HDHP80E1, HDHP80AN1, HDHP90AN1 and HDHP90ANB1. The vented HDV and HDY Haier dryers sit alongside Fisher & Paykel’s DE45F56EW1.

Condenser dryers: DE8060, DC8060, HD80-01 and HDC80E1
The DE8060P2 has run its ninety minutes and the towels are still wet, warm only from the tumbling. Nine times in ten that is the heater. It sits in a duct behind the drum with a thermal cut-out bolted to it; when the element goes open circuit the drum turns, the fan runs, nothing warms. Dryer unplugged, meter across the element, then the cut-out. The condenser dryer heater fitment guide walks through it; the Haier-badged listing is the Fisher Paykel Haier Condenser Dryer Heater.
Water on the floor is the other big one. The pump that lifts condensate up to the tank in the door lives in a sump that fills with lint. When it sticks, the tank-full warning comes on over an empty tank, or the sump overflows. On the Haier badge it is the Haier Condensate Pump HD80-01, HDC80E1, HDHP80AN1, HDHP90AN1, HDHP90ANB1. If the pump runs but the sump keeps flooding, clean the float and hoses first.
Squeal under load on the DE8060 is the rear bearing and felt guides. Heat pump dryers: DH8060, DH9060, HDHP80 and HDHP90
A DH9060FSG1 that screams for ten seconds at the start of every cycle, or hums and gives up, is telling you the drum motor bearings are going. The motor is the serious part on this platform, $350–450 as a band, so check before it goes in the cart. Unplug, open the door, turn the drum by hand. It should roll with light, even belt drag.
- Drum free by hand, motor hums or screeches and will not run: the motor.
- Drum stiff, grinding or catching: rear bearing or rollers. A motor will not fix it.
- Belt loose in the drum: the belt.
- Runs quietly, never warms: the refrigerant circuit. Compressor and sealed system are licensed-repairer work only. Do not open it.

Vented dryers: HDV, HDY and DE45
Haier’s HDV40A through HDV70E and the HDY60M are the wall-hung vented dryers in rental laundries across the country, and the part they most often need is the Haier Dryer Wall Mounting Bracket Kit HDV40A, HDV50E, HDV60A, HDV70E, HDY60M, because brackets get left behind at the last house. Two vented faults to know. Hums and will not start, but spins up if you flick the drum: the motor run capacitor. Runs only with the door pushed hard shut: the door switch. Where the model sticker is and how to match it
Open the door. On the condenser and heat pump dryers the sticker is on the frame around the door opening; on the vented HDV and HDY it is inside the door rim or on the back panel near the vent. Copy the whole thing, because the suffix bites: DH9060P1 and DH9060P2 are different builds, DH9060FS1 and DH9060FSG1 a different generation again, and HDHP80A1, HDHP80E1 and HDHP80AN1 are separate listings. DIY or repairer?
Belts and hinge plates are $20–40 parts and a screwdriver job. Pumps and the condenser heater sit in the $70–130 band and want a panel off, a photo of the wiring first, and a meter reading that confirms the fault. A repairer’s call-out and diagnosis runs $100–165 before parts, so a confirmed motor fitted yourself beats replacing a heat pump dryer. The same motor fitted on a guess does not.
Stop and call a licensed person when the fault is heating on a heat pump dryer (sealed refrigerant circuit); when the dryer is hard-wired rather than plugged in (isolate at the switchboard and the wall, and in most Australian states that work must be done by a licensed person); or when symptoms point to the control board, fitted after diagnosis, never on a guess. Never bypass the door switch.

Q: How do I know the heat pump motor is the fault?

Q: Can I regas a heat pump dryer or replace its compressor myself?
A: No. The sealed refrigerant circuit on a heat pump dryer is licensed-repairer work in Australia. We do not sell sealed-system parts.
Q: Why does my dryer say the tank is full when it is empty?
A: The condensate pump or its float is jammed with lint or has failed. Clean the sump and float first; if it keeps happening, replace the pump listed for your model.
