Westinghouse dishwashers (built on the Electrolux platform) have a sealed tray in the base of the cabinet with a polystyrene float sitting above it. If water reaches the tray, the float rises, trips a microswitch and the control board raises i30 — usually while running the drain pump continuously to protect your floor. Depending on the panel style the same fault can display as C3, F30 or Er3.

How to fix the Westinghouse i30 error — step by step
- Disconnect power at the wall. If the drain pump is running non-stop, this stops it while you work.
- Turn off the water supply at the isolation tap under the sink.
- Get the water out of the base tray. Pull the machine out, and with a helper tilt it backwards about 45 degrees over towels — water will run out of the base. Alternatively remove the kick panel and sponge the tray dry.
- Look for the source while the base is exposed. Mineral streaks, rust marks or detergent residue trails show where water has been tracking. Check every hose clamp, the sump-to-tub joint and the pump body.
- Clean the filters and sump so a back-up cannot overflow the tub on the next run.
- Reconnect power and water and run a short programme with the kick panel off (floor protected with towels), watching underneath with a torch. A weep at the inlet valve or pump will show itself within minutes — replace the leaking part.
- If the tray stays dry but i30 returns, the float may be jammed with debris or the float microswitch has failed — free the float first, and have the switch checked if the code persists.
Important: Never just dry the tray and keep using the machine without finding the source. The float will only trip again — and the next leak may reach the floor or the electrics.
