Quick answer: A Fisher & Paykel DH8060 or DH9060 heat pump dryer (or its Haier HDHP twin) that won’t tumble usually needs a drive belt. A squeal points at the drum guide bearings, water on the floor at the drain pump, slow drying at a blocked lint or condenser filter. Rule out the belt before the expensive motor. Match the full model on the sticker inside the door opening, suffix included; parts are stocked in Australia and dispatched from Sydney the day you order when it’s in by 12pm Sydney time.

Decode your model: why the suffix matters
The model sticker is on the rim of the door opening, or on the back panel. DH marks a Fisher & Paykel heat pump dryer and 8060 or 9060 the family. The letters after that are the build: FS and FSG, P and PG, C, and H, HL or HLG are different builds, and the final number is a revision. A DH9060FSG1 and a DH9060P2 look alike from the front but can need different belts, sensors and pumps. Haier HDHP80 and HDHP90 suffixes (AN1, ANB1, A1, E1, AW1) split the same way.
So match the full model in the listing title, and don’t guess. Search it on the site, find it on the Fisher & Paykel model pages, or browse Fisher & Paykel parts and the dryer parts store. If more than one listing names your model, or none does, send the model number via the contact page and we’ll check before you order.
Not drying? Clean the two filters first
Many “not drying” complaints on a heat pump dryer are lint, not a part. A heat pump dryer moves its heat through a heat exchanger, and lint on that path stalls the whole cycle.
- The lint filter in the door opening. Pull it out, open it, clear the lint, and rinse it if fabric softener has glazed the mesh. Dry it fully before refitting.
- The condenser filter. On most heat pump dryers a second filter sits low on the front of the cabinet behind an access flap, in front of the heat exchanger; your manual shows the exact spot. Rinse it under the tap until the water runs clear, squeeze rather than twist, and let it dry. Never run the dryer without it.
Both clean and still damp? On FS and FSG models the exhaust sensor is next, then the fan and shaft. The heat pump dryer not heating guide covers the order. A code on the display? Decode it with the Fisher & Paykel dryer error codes, Haier dryer error codes or the heat pump dryer error codes guide.
Belts, pulley and bearings: a confident DIY job
Unplug the dryer and pull it out. The top panel comes off, then the front or back panel depending on the build. Photograph the belt routing around the motor pulley and tensioner before you touch anything. A snapped belt shows itself: drum loose by hand, motor running free. If the drum guide bearings or the pulley grind or wobble, replace them while you’re in there.
The heat pump dryer not tumbling guide and the Fisher & Paykel dryer drive belt guide show the routing, and the heat pump dryer service kit guide covers doing belt and bearing together. DH8060P1 owners will also find the Genuine Fisher & Paykel Dryer Fan Belt Suit DH8060P1 listed.
Water on the floor: the pump
A heat pump dryer pumps its condensed water to the tank or the drain hose. When the pump sticks with lint or fails, you get a pump code, a tank warning or a puddle. Check the drain hose isn’t kinked and clear the sump first. Fisher & Paykel pumps come in two listings, so open the Fisher & Paykel Heat Pump Dryer drain Pump DH8060P1 DH9060P1 DH8060C1 DH9060C1 as well as the one in the table and match your model. The drain pump replacement guide covers the swap.
The motor: prove it before you spend $350–420
The motor is the big-ticket part on these dryers. Three checks, in order:
- Unplug the dryer and turn the drum by hand. It should roll with light, even drag. Stiff or grinding means bearings or rollers, and a motor won’t fix that.
- Check the belt is whole and on the pulley.
- Panels back on, plug in, run it empty and listen. A hum with no rotation, or a screech at start that fades as it warms, with a free drum and a good belt, is the motor.
On a DH8060P1 or DH8060P3, test the Fisher Paykel Heat Pump Dryer Run Capacitor DH8060P1, DH8060P3 before anything bigger. A capacitor can hold charge after the plug is out; if you don’t know how to discharge one safely, leave it to a repairer. The heat pump dryer motor guide covers the proof, and Haier owners have the Haier Heat Pump Dryer Motor HDHP90AN1 HDHP90ANB1. Motor listings name specific models, so for any other model send the model number and we’ll check. The cheapest heat pump dryer to repair guide puts the repair-or-replace numbers in context.
DIY or repairer?
Belts, bearings, the pulley and the door lock switch are screwdriver jobs with the dryer unplugged, mostly $25–70 parts. Warm air or lint escaping round the door is the Fisher Paykel and Haier Dryer Door Seal Gasket, another easy swap. Pumps, the fan and shaft and the exhaust sensor are panel-off jobs in the $30–105 band, and the motor is a longer job. A call-out typically runs $100–165 before parts, and a repairer earns it on the motor if you’re unsure.
The refrigerant side of a heat pump is a sealed circuit: never pierce, re-gas or open it. If the drum turns, the fan runs, the filters are clean and it still won’t heat, that’s licensed refrigeration work. A hard-wired dryer must be isolated at the switchboard, and any wiring work on it is for a licensed electrician. Never bypass the door lock switch; the door lock switch guide shows how to test it instead.
Frequently asked questions
Where is the model number on a Fisher & Paykel DH9060 dryer?
Open the door and look at the rim of the door opening; a duplicate sticker usually sits on the back panel. Copy the full code, such as DH9060FSG1, because the letters and number after DH9060 decide which belt, sensor and pump fit.
Why is my Fisher & Paykel heat pump dryer not spinning?
If the motor runs but the drum doesn’t turn, the drive belt has usually snapped or slipped off. Unplug it and turn the drum by hand: loose and free means the belt, while stiff or grinding points at the bearings or rollers.
How do I clean the condenser filter on a heat pump dryer?
On most heat pump dryers it sits low on the front behind an access flap; your manual shows the spot. Pull it out, rinse it under the tap until the water runs clear, squeeze it gently and let it dry fully before refitting.
Do the DH9060 and the Haier HDHP90 use the same parts?
Some listings carry both badges, because Fisher & Paykel sits inside the Haier group. Others, like the belts, are listed separately for each badge. Never assume: match your full model number to the listing title, or send it to us to check.
How do I know the heat pump dryer motor has failed?
The drum turns freely by hand, the belt is whole and on the pulley, and the motor hums without turning or screeches at start. Rule out the belt, and the run capacitor where your model lists one, before you spend on a motor.
Can I re-gas a heat pump dryer myself?
No. The heat pump’s refrigerant circuit is sealed, and opening, piercing or re-gassing it is licensed refrigeration work in Australia. If the filters are clean, the drum turns and it still won’t heat, book a licensed refrigeration repairer.
Read the full model off the sticker in the door opening, search it on the site, or send it through the contact page and we’ll check the part before you order. Belts, pumps, sensors and motors are dispatched from Sydney’s Northern Beaches the day you order when it’s in by 12pm Sydney time.
