Solt is a budget front-loader brand sold through Harvey Norman and Domayne. Almost nobody publishes proper repair guides for it, so when the door seal perishes owners are left guessing. The door seal (also called the door gasket, rubber boot or bellows) is the flexible rubber ring that bridges the gap between the machine’s outer cabinet and the spinning drum. How do I replace the Solt door seal step by step?
Time: 45 to 60 minutes. Difficulty: moderate (no special skills, just patience). Tools: flat screwdriver, pliers, a small flat-blade or spring-clamp tool, and a towel.
Before you touch anything:
- Switch off and unplug the machine at the wall. Never work on a plugged-in appliance.
- Turn off the water tap at the inlet hose and have a towel ready, because the old seal will hold trapped water.
Then:
- Open the door and peel the seal forward to expose the front retaining ring (a spring-loaded wire band sitting in a groove around the rim).
- Release the front spring clamp. Find the tension spring on the band, usually at the bottom, lever it out with a flat screwdriver and unhook the wire ring. Pull the front lip of the old seal off the cabinet rim.
- Pull the seal inward and find the rear clamp. Reach into the drum opening, find the second clamp holding the seal to the outer tub, release it the same way, and take the old gasket out completely. Note how any drain holes and the top alignment mark sit, because your new one has to match.
