Quick answer: Westinghouse ovens have their model sticker in one of three places: on the oven door frame (open the door, look at the lower lip), on the side wall of the cavity (visible with the door open), or on a plate behind the storage drawer / kick panel at the base. Cooktops have it on the underside, accessed from inside the cupboard below. If the sticker is unreadable, take a photo of the oven internals and run it through the Oz Appliance Spares Part Finder — we identify the chassis from internals alone.

Why the model number matters more than the brand
Westinghouse, Chef, Simpson, Kelvinator and Electrolux ovens sold in Australia all share manufacturing — same chassis families, same component platforms. Two ovens that look identical from the outside can take different bake elements, different temperature sensors, different fan motors depending on the production year and the spec level.
Ordering an “oven element for a Westinghouse” without the model number is a coin toss. Same brand, different generation = different part. Get the model number first.
Where to look — by oven and cooktop type
Built-in wall oven (single, double, pyrolytic)
| Location | What it looks like |
|---|---|
| Inside the door frame | Open the door fully. Sticker on the lower lip of the door frame (where the door seals against the cavity). Silver or white, 30-50mm long. |
| Side wall of the cavity | Open the door, shine a torch along the left and right interior walls — often a second sticker repeating the model + serial. |
| Behind the storage drawer / kick panel | If there’s a warming drawer or storage drawer below the oven, pull it out. A plate is riveted to the chassis behind it. |
The door-frame sticker is the most legible (least exposed to grease and heat). Use that first.
Freestanding oven (oven + cooktop combo, standalone unit)
| Location | What it looks like |
|---|---|
| Inside the oven door frame | Same as built-in — lower lip of the door frame. |
| Behind the storage drawer | Pull the bottom drawer out fully, sticker is on the chassis behind it. |
| Back of the unit | Pull the freestanding unit out from the wall (you may need help — they’re heavy). Plate on the back panel near the top. |
| ### Cooktop (gas, electric, induction) |
| Location | What it looks like |
|---|---|
| Underside of the cooktop | Open the cupboard below the cooktop. Sticker is on the underside of the cooktop body, visible looking up. |
| Underside, after removing trim | On some installs, a small access trim needs to come off (one screw) to expose the sticker. |
| Original install paperwork | If you have the installation receipt or the original manual, the model is on the cover. |
| ### Range hood (Westinghouse / Chef branded) |
| Location | What it looks like |
|---|---|
| Inside the hood, after removing the grease filters | Slide out the grease filters (clip-out, no tools), shine a torch into the cavity. Sticker on the inside top of the hood. |
| On the side of the hood body | Sometimes on the outside-side, hidden by the under-cabinet mount. |
What a Westinghouse oven model number looks like
The pattern varies by era, but the format is usually:
- 2-3 letters identifying the product family (PAK, POH, WVE, WVG, etc.)
- 3-4 digits for the spec level / size
- 1-2 trailing letters for finish / variant (W = white, S = stainless, K = black)
Examples (illustrative format only — confirm yours from the sticker):
- WVE6XX — built-in electric oven
- WVG6XX — built-in gas oven
- POHXXX — freestanding oven
- PAKXXX — pyrolytic oven
You want the whole string — the trailing letters change which parts fit. “WVE6” alone isn’t enough.
Sticker faded, missing, or unreadable — what to do
Oven door-frame stickers take a beating: oven heat, splashes, oven-cleaner spray. Common to lose them on ovens 8+ years old. Three options:
- Take photos of the internals — open the door, photograph the bake element, the fan element (if it’s a fan-bake oven), the back wall, and the door seal. Send via the contact form on the Oz Appliance Spares site.
- Run it through the Oz Appliance Spares Part Finder — drop the photos in, we identify the chassis from element shape, fan style and door-seal pattern.
- Check your house records — original purchase receipt, installation paperwork, building manual (if the oven was installed by a builder). The model number is usually on one of those.
FAQs
My Westinghouse oven and cooktop are combined — one model number or two?
For a freestanding range (oven + cooktop in one unit), one model number covers the whole unit. For a built-in wall oven + separate cooktop, each appliance has its own model number — find both.
Will the part for an Electrolux oven fit my Westinghouse?
Often yes — same AU manufacturing chassis. But confirm by part number on the old component, not just by brand. Some chassis generations are unique to one badge.
I have the serial number but not the model — does that work?
Send the serial through the contact form; with 20+ years in this chassis family we can often work backward.
My oven was installed by the builder — where would the model details be?
Check the appliance handover pack (a folder builders typically leave with the homeowner) or the building file from the builder. If those aren’t available, the sticker on the door frame is your fallback.
Two Westinghouse ovens at the same address — which model is which?
Stickers on both, label them with masking tape if you’re trying to order parts for one and not the other. Many Westinghouse models look identical across the range, so by-eye identification isn’t reliable.
