Quick answer: On most Samsung front loader washing machines, the model sticker is on the door rim, at roughly the 3 or 9 o’clock position when the door is open. On most Samsung top loaders it is under the lid or on the back panel, and on most Samsung dryers it is inside the door opening. For Samsung fridges, check the inside wall of the fresh food compartment or behind the crisper drawer. The model number is the long alphanumeric code such as WW85T504DAW, not the longer serial number printed on the same sticker. If anything is unclear, photo the model sticker and send it through the Oz Appliance Spares Part Finder.

Why the model number is non-negotiable
Samsung reuses the same cabinet, door and control panel styling across many generations of the same appliance. A WW85 front loader from one production run can look almost identical to a WW85T from a later run, yet the door seal, drain pump, drum bearings and control board can all be different parts. Ordering from a photo of the machine, or from a guess like “the white 8.5kg Samsung front loader”, is how the wrong part ends up on your doorstep.
The full model number on the sticker is the only identifier that pins down the exact variant Samsung built. Two extra letters at the end of the code can separate two machines that share nothing but the badge. Thirty seconds spent finding the sticker saves days of back-and-forth later, so find it first and order second.
Where to look — by appliance type
Where the model sticker is on a Samsung appliance
| Appliance | Where the model sticker is |
|---|---|
| Washing machine (front loader) | Inside the door rim with the door open, or behind the detergent drawer. A duplicate sticker sits on the back panel. |
| Washing machine (top loader) | Under the lid, on the rim of the tub opening, or on the back panel. |
| Dryer | Inside the door opening, on the rim of the drum, or on the back panel. |
| Fridge and freezer | Inside the fresh food compartment, on a side wall, or behind the crisper drawer. |
| Dishwasher | On the edge of the door, visible only with the door open, or on the inner door panel. |
Samsung washing machines
| Location | Notes |
|---|---|
| Door rim (front loaders) | Open the door and check the rim at the 3 or 9 o’clock position on most models. The sticker sits on the frame that the door closes against, so it stays clean and readable. |
| Behind the detergent drawer | Some front loaders carry a second sticker inside the drawer recess. Press the release tab, pull the drawer right out and look at the exposed cavity. |
| Under the lid (top loaders) | On most WA-series top loaders the sticker is under the lid or on the rear edge of the top frame. Lift the lid fully and check the flat surfaces around the opening. |
| Back panel | Most models carry a duplicate sticker on the rear panel. Handy if the front sticker has worn off, but only pull the machine out as a last resort. |
Samsung dryers
| Location | Notes |
|---|---|
| Inside the door opening | Open the door and check the rim around the drum opening or the inside face of the door frame. This is the most common spot on most models. |
| Back panel | A duplicate sticker usually sits near the top of the rear panel. Useful for wall-mounted dryers where you can see the back in a mirror or phone photo. |
| Lower front panel | Some models place the sticker low on the front, near the kickplate. Crouch down and check before pulling the dryer off its brackets. |
Samsung fridges
| Location | Notes |
|---|---|
| Inside the fresh food compartment | On most models the sticker is on a side wall of the fridge section, around mid-height. Move any bottles or jars that block the wall. |
| Behind the crisper drawer | Slide the crisper out and check the wall behind or just above it. Stickers here survive well because nothing rubs against them. |
| External back panel | Many models carry a duplicate on the rear of the cabinet. Only go here if the internal stickers are gone, because walking a fridge out is a two-person job. |
Samsung dishwashers
| Location | Notes |
|---|---|
| Edge of the dishwasher door | Open the door halfway and check the side edge of the door itself. On most models the sticker is printed here, hidden when the door is shut. |
| Door frame | Some models put the sticker on the frame of the tub opening instead, usually on the left or right side. Check both sides with the door fully open. |
| Inner door panel | A few models place it on the inner metal face of the door, near the top. Wipe the area first, because detergent residue builds up here. |
What a Samsung model number looks like
A Samsung model number is a long alphanumeric code that typically ends in letters. A current front loader looks like WW85T504DAW. Older codes follow the same idea with different prefixes, for example WA10J at the start of a top loader code or WF1752 at the start of an older front loader code. The prefix tells you the family: WW is a front loader, WA is a top loader and WF is an older front loader. Samsung fridge models start with prefixes such as SRF or SRL.
Do not confuse the model with the serial number. Both appear on the same sticker, but they do different jobs. The model number identifies the design, so it is what you match parts against. The serial number is a separate, longer code that identifies your individual unit and its production details. If you are not sure which is which, the model is usually the shorter code that starts with letters like WW, WA, WF, SRF or SRL. When in doubt, photograph the whole sticker and let us read it.
How to read a Samsung model number
| Prefix | What it identifies |
|---|---|
| WW | Front loader washing machine |
| WA | Top loader washing machine |
| WF | Front loader washing machine, on earlier Australian codes |
| WD | Washer dryer combo |
| DV | Dryer |
| SRF, SRL, SRS | Fridge and freezer |
A Samsung model is the longer letter-and-number code that starts with one of these prefixes, for example WW85T504DAW or WA10J5710SG. Copy every character, including the letters on the end. The serial number is the separate code printed beside it and identifies your individual unit.
Sticker unreadable or missing?
Stickers fade, especially on dryers that run hot and on machines that live in sunny laundries. Kitchen grease, detergent residue and scourer pads finish the job. If yours is faded, photograph it anyway. A phone camera with the flash on will often pick up ghost lettering that your eye cannot, and a partial code is frequently enough for us to identify the machine.
If the sticker is completely gone, photograph the failed part itself, plus the front of the appliance. Send both through the Part Finder and we will work from there. Also dig out the original receipt, the user manual or the warranty card. Most models have the full model number printed on at least one of these documents.

FAQ
Is the Samsung model number the same as the serial number?
No. The model number identifies the design, for example WW85T504DAW, and it is what you use to match parts. The serial number is a separate, longer code on the same sticker that identifies your individual unit. Record both if you are unsure, but parts are matched to the model.
Do I need the full model number or just the first part?
Use the full code, including the letters at the end. Samsung builds multiple variants on the same platform, and codes that differ only in their final characters can take different door seals, pumps or boards. The prefix alone, such as WW85, narrows the family but does not pin down the exact machine.
Where is the model number on a Samsung front loader washing machine?
Open the door and look at the rim at the 3 or 9 o’clock position. On most models the sticker is right there on the frame the door seals against. If it is missing or worn, check behind the detergent drawer and on the back panel.
What do WW, WA and WF mean on a Samsung model number?
WW is a front loader, WA is a top loader and WF is an older front loader. Samsung fridge models start with prefixes such as SRF or SRL instead. The prefix is a quick sanity check that you are reading the model number and not the serial.
What if I cannot read the sticker at all?
Photograph the sticker anyway, because a camera with flash often recovers faded print, and photograph the part you need to replace. Send the photos through the Part Finder and check your original receipt or manual, which usually lists the full model number.
Where is the model number on a Samsung top loader washing machine?
Under the lid, on the rim of the tub opening. Lift the lid fully and shine a torch along the rim; the same machine carries a duplicate model sticker on the back panel.
Where is the model number on a Samsung fridge?
Inside the fresh food compartment, on a side wall. On some models it sits behind the crisper drawer, so slide the drawer out and check the wall behind it.
Where is the model number on a Samsung dishwasher?
On the edge of the door. Open the door halfway and read the narrow edge on the left or right side, where the model sticker sits alongside the serial number.
