Quick answer: Washing machine or dishwasher won’t fill, or water weeping from the fat box on the tap end of the hose? That box is an Aquastop safety shut-off, and once a mechanical one trips it stays shut: replace the hose, don’t reset it. Bosch and Siemens washers and Smeg, Omega, Bellini and DeLonghi dishwashers use model-specific safety hoses; plain inlet hoses are generic. Match the model number on the sticker. Stocked in Australia and dispatched from Sydney the day you order when it’s in by 12pm Sydney time.

The hose that stopped your machine
The dishwasher hums and no water comes in. The Bosch front loader throws a fill fault and the box at the tap end is wet. Or a plain hose has split and you’re wondering whether any hose will do.
Short version: a plain cold hose is generic, and a 1.5m Washing Machine Inlet Hose Cold Water Universal suits most washers on a standard tap. A safety hose is matched to the machine. Find yours below, then check your model number against the listing title.

The two Bosch front loader hoses look alike, and some Bosch Aquastop hoses include a valve while others don’t, so the E-Nr decides. Smaller DeLonghi models take the Delonghi Dishwasher inlet Hose Assembly DEDW4510S, DEDW45S. The rest of the laundry is in the washing machine parts store.
What an Aquastop safety hose actually does
Aquastop is the name most people use for a safety inlet hose. It’s two hoses in one: water runs through an inner hose inside a ribbed outer sleeve. If the inner hose splits, the sleeve contains the water and a shut-off stops the supply.
- Mechanical. A valve in the tap-end box closes when it senses a burst-sized rush of water, or when a leak wets a swelling insert, depending on the design. It’s one-shot: once tripped, it doesn’t reopen.
- Electrically switched. Built into some machines, including some Bosch and Siemens models. The valve is powered through wires inside the sleeve, and the machine closes it when a float switch in the base detects water.
Why replace rather than reset? A hose trips for a reason: a split inner hose, a tired seal or water in the base. Forcing the valve open removes the protection. And a universal mechanical hose does not replace a machine-wired one, because the machine relies on that wired valve to control or protect its supply.
How to tell your Aquastop has tripped
- It won’t fill, though the tap is fully on and the kitchen tap has pressure.
- A fill fault or water-in-base fault. On a Bosch dishwasher that’s E15. Read the Bosch dishwasher E15 guide before buying, because the hose is only one suspect. The Bosch, Smeg and Omega dishwasher error code guides list the fill faults.
- Water or damp inside the safety box or the outer sleeve.
- A red indicator window. Many aftermarket safety hoses show red once the valve has shut.
Won’t fill and the box is dry? Check the tap is fully open and the filter screen at the machine inlet isn’t blocked before you buy anything. Then the inlet valve is next: test and replace a washing machine inlet valve, and check which water inlet valve fits. Water under the machine rather than at the tap? See washing machine leaking from underneath.
How to remove an Aquastop hose and fit the new one
- Turn the tap off. Start a rinse for about twenty seconds to release the pressure in the hose, then cancel it.
- Unplug the machine at the wall. Water and 240V are both in play, so the plug comes out before any panel does.
- Towel and tray under the tap, then undo the tap-end nut.
- Find the machine end. On many washers it screws onto the inlet at the back. On many dishwashers the hose runs inside the cabinet, so the kickplate or a side panel comes off. If there are wires, unplug the connector. Never cut an electrically switched hose.
- Fit the new hose with new washers, hand-tight plus a small nip, with no kinks.
- Tap on slowly, check both ends, run a short cycle and check again.
Dishwasher hard-plumbed under the sink? Changing the hose at the dishwasher tap is still DIY. Anything beyond that appliance tap is a plumber’s job. The dishwasher inlet and drain hose replacement guide covers the under-sink side.
Are washing machine inlet hoses universal?
Plain ones mostly are. Australian washing machine taps use a standard 3/4-inch BSP hose thread, and most washers take the same thread at the inlet. For a Samsung washing machine water inlet hose, the Samsung cold hose above is the like-for-like choice. Safety hoses are the opposite: model-specific.
Washing machine hose washers: replace them every time
Whenever a hose comes off, fit new washers at both ends. Old ones are flattened and hard, and a nut that dripped will drip again however tight you make it. Rinse grit from the mesh screen in the machine inlet while you’re there. Treat plain hoses as wear parts: replace one at the first bulge, crack or rusty nut, and every few years regardless.
How to match your model
Bosch and Siemens washers carry the model sticker around the door rim; Bosch dishwashers carry it on the door edge. Copy the full E-Nr, including anything after the slash. The Bosch E-Nr guide shows where to look, the Bosch models directory lists machines by model, and Bosch washing machine parts covers seals and pumps for the same washers. Everything else sits under Bosch parts.
Smeg, Omega, Bellini, Blanco and DeLonghi dishwashers carry the model on a door-edge sticker too, and several share platforms: Omega, Euro, Technika, Baumatic and Blanco dishwasher parts explains the matching. Search the model number on the site, or send it via the contact page and we’ll check before you order.
DIY or repairer?
A hose swap is a friendly DIY job. Plain hoses run roughly $10–20, dishwasher safety hoses $28–32, and Bosch or Siemens washer safety hoses $75–95. A repairer’s call-out typically runs $100–165 before parts.
Stop and call a repairer if the hose is wired into terminals rather than a plug, if water has reached the base from somewhere you can’t find, or if the water-in-base fault stays after a new hose. That can be the float switch or the control board, and boards are fitted after diagnosis. Anything beyond the appliance tap goes to a licensed plumber.
Frequently asked questions
How do I remove an Aquastop hose?
Turn the tap off, run a rinse briefly to release pressure, then unplug the machine. Undo the tap-end nut over a towel and disconnect the machine end, which on many dishwashers means removing the kickplate. Never cut the wiring.
Can you reset an Aquastop hose once it has tripped?
No. A mechanical safety valve is one-shot and stays closed once tripped, and forcing it open defeats the protection. Replace the hose, then find out why it tripped: usually a split inner hose or water in the base.
Are all dishwasher hoses the same?
No. Plain inlet hoses on a standard tap thread are close to generic, but safety hoses are matched to the dishwasher. DeLonghi alone has two Aquastop hose versions by model group, so match the model number on the door-edge sticker.
Can I fit a universal Aquastop hose to my Bosch?
Not if your Bosch uses an electrically switched Aquastop with wires running through the hose. A universal mechanical hose has no wiring, so the machine loses the valve it relies on. Use the genuine hose for your E-Nr.
Why does my washing machine hose leak at the tap?
Usually a flattened or missing hose washer, not the hose. Turn the tap off, undo the nut, fit a new washer and tighten hand-tight plus a small nip. If the nut is cracked or the hose bulges, replace the whole hose.
How quickly can I get a replacement inlet hose?
In-stock hoses are held in Sydney. Order by 12pm Sydney time and yours is dispatched from Sydney the day you order, then travels to you Australia-wide. Check your model number against the listing title first.
