Quick answer: On most Bosch washing machines the model sticker sits inside the door rim, visible as soon as you open the porthole door, with a duplicate on the rear panel of many machines. Bosch dishwashers usually carry it on the side edge of the door, ovens on the side trim of the oven frame once the door is open, and fridges inside the fresh food compartment on a side wall. The number you need is the E-Nr, and you need all of it, including the digits after the slash (for example WAW28460AU/07). If any of it is hard to read, photo the model sticker and send it through the Oz Appliance Spares Part Finder.

Why the model number is non-negotiable
Bosch cabinets change very little between generations. A white front loader with a chrome-ringed porthole could be a WAW Serie 8 machine or a newer WGG24400 series machine, and from across the laundry they read as the same appliance. Underneath, the door seals, drain pumps, bearings and control modules are frequently different parts that do not interchange. The same is true of Bosch dishwashers and ovens: the fascia carries over while the internals move on.
Bosch also revises parts within a single model’s production run, which is why the E-Nr on the sticker carries a production index after the slash. Quote the series name alone (“it’s a Serie 8”) and a supplier is guessing across generations and revisions at once. Quote the full E-Nr and there is no guessing, because the number points at one exact parts list.
Where to look — by appliance type
Take your phone with you and photograph the sticker as soon as you find it. The locations below cover most Bosch appliances sold in Australia, and there is a brand-agnostic walkthrough in our guide to finding any appliance model number if you are hunting on more than one machine.
Where the model sticker is on a Bosch appliance
| Appliance | Where the model sticker is |
|---|---|
| Washing machine (front loader) | Inside the door rim with the door open, behind the service flap at the lower front, or in the detergent drawer recess. |
| Dryer | Inside the door opening, on the rim of the drum, or on the lower front edge. |
| Dishwasher | On the side edge of the door, on the top edge of the door, or on the inner door panel. |
| Oven | On the side trim of the oven frame with the door open, or along the lower frame edge. |
| Fridge and freezer | Inside the fresh food compartment, on a side wall, or beside the crisper bin. |
Washing machines
| Location | Notes |
|---|---|
| Inside the door rim | Open the porthole door and check the surround. On most models the sticker sits on the frame at roughly the 12 or 3 o’clock position. |
| Behind the service flap | Many front loaders have a small flap at the bottom front covering the pump filter. A duplicate sticker often sits behind it or just inside the opening. |
| Rear panel | Most machines carry a second copy of the data plate on the back of the cabinet, which is useful if the front sticker has rubbed off. |
| Detergent drawer recess | On some models you can pull the detergent drawer right out and find the E-Nr printed inside the recess. |
Dryers
| Location | Notes |
|---|---|
| Inside the door opening | Open the door and check the rim of the drum opening. Most Bosch dryers place the model sticker here. |
| Rear panel | Usually duplicated on the back of the cabinet. |
| Lower front edge | A few models tuck the sticker down near the kick panel at the bottom front. |
Dishwashers
| Location | Notes |
|---|---|
| Side edge of the door | Open the door halfway and look at the narrow edge on the left or right side. This is the standard spot on most Bosch dishwashers. |
| Top edge of the door | Some models print it along the top edge instead, visible only while the door is partly open. |
| Inner door panel | Occasionally the sticker sits on the inside face of the door itself. |
Ovens
| Location | Notes |
|---|---|
| Side trim of the oven frame | Open the door fully and check the vertical trim on the left or right of the cavity opening. Most built-in Bosch ovens put the data plate here. |
| Lower frame edge | Some models place it along the bottom edge of the frame, hidden behind the closed door. |
| Rear of the appliance | There is usually a duplicate on the back, but a built-in oven has to come out of its cavity to see it. Leave that one to a technician. |
Fridges and freezers
| Location | Notes |
|---|---|
| Inside the fresh food compartment | Check the side walls first. On most models the sticker sits at about crisper height. |
| Behind or beside the crisper bin | Slide the crisper out on some models and the sticker is on the wall behind it. |
| Near the internal controls | A few models place it close to the temperature control panel inside the compartment. |
What a Bosch model number looks like
Every Bosch data plate carries three separate codes, and mixing them up is the most common reason the wrong part gets ordered. The one that matters for parts is the E-Nr, short for Erzeugnisnummer, which is German for product number. On the sticker it is usually labelled “E-Nr.” and it reads like a model name with a slash and two digits on the end.
Take WAW28460AU/07, a WAW Serie 8 front loader sold in Australia. Everything before the slash identifies the model line as it was sold. The two digits after the slash are the production index, and they are not optional. Bosch revises appliances during a production run without changing the model name: an updated pump, a new control board or a redesigned door seal can each bump the index. That means a /01 and a /07 of the same machine can take different parts even though the name on the shop floor never changed. The same logic applies to newer lines such as the WGG24400 series, so whenever you record an E-Nr, capture the full string, slash included.
The sticker also shows an FD number. That is Bosch’s production date code, and it tells Bosch when your appliance was built. It can be useful in a support conversation, but it is not the model number, so never quote it in place of the E-Nr.
Finally there is the serial number, which is unique to your individual unit. The serial identifies your machine; the E-Nr identifies which parts fit it. If a supplier asks for one number only, give the complete E-Nr with its production index. Better still, photograph the whole sticker so nothing gets mistyped along the way.
How to read a Bosch model number
| Prefix | What it identifies |
|---|---|
| WAN, WAW, WAJ, WGG | Front loader washing machine |
| WTW, WTH | Dryer |
| SMS, SMU, SMV | Dishwasher |
| HBA, HBG | Oven |
| KGN | Fridge and freezer |
On a Bosch model sticker the code labelled E-Nr is the one that matters for parts, and it reads like WAW28460AU/07. Everything before the slash names the model; the two digits after the slash are the production index and change which parts fit. The FD number beside it is the production date code, not the model.
Sticker unreadable or missing?
Stickers fade. Oven data plates live next to heat, dishwasher door edges cop steam and rinse aid, and laundry stickers get wiped with degreaser until the print gives up. If yours is faded, greasy or half peeled, photograph it anyway. A phone camera often captures more than the eye picks up, and partial characters are frequently enough to narrow down a Bosch E-Nr.
Send the photo through the Part Finder and we will work with whatever is legible. If the sticker is gone entirely, photograph the failed part itself from a couple of angles, including any numbers stamped or printed on it. It is also worth digging out the original receipt or the instruction manual, because both usually record exactly which model you bought.

FAQ
What does E-Nr mean on a Bosch appliance?
E-Nr is short for Erzeugnisnummer, German for product number. It is the full model identifier Bosch prints on the data plate, for example WAW28460AU/07, and it is the number a parts supplier needs. Always quote it in full, including everything after the slash.
Does the number after the slash in a Bosch E-Nr matter?
Yes. The digits after the slash are the production index, and they record revisions Bosch made during the model’s production run. A /01 and a /07 of the same model can take different pumps, seals or boards, so a part that fits one revision may not fit the other.
Is the E-Nr the same as the serial number?
No. The serial number is unique to your individual appliance, while the E-Nr identifies the model and revision, which is what determines parts fit. Both appear on the same model sticker, so one photo captures everything you need.
What is the FD number on a Bosch sticker?
FD is Bosch’s production date code, which records when your appliance was built. It can help in a support conversation, but it is not a model number and it will not identify parts on its own. Use the E-Nr for anything parts-related.
Where is the E-Nr on a Bosch dishwasher?
On most Bosch dishwashers the model sticker is on the side edge of the door, visible when the door is half open. Some models print it along the top edge of the door instead. If the edge sticker has faded, check the inside face of the door panel.
Where is the model number on a Bosch front loader washing machine?
Inside the door rim with the door open. Bosch also prints the E-Nr behind the service flap at the lower front of the machine and in the detergent drawer recess.
Where is the E-Nr on a Bosch oven?
On the side trim of the oven frame, visible once the door is open, or along the lower frame edge. Open the door fully and read the trim on either side of the cavity.
Where is the model number on a Bosch dryer?
Inside the door opening, on the rim of the drum, or along the lower front edge of the cabinet. The E-Nr on that sticker is the code to quote for parts.
