Replace it (about 30 minutes):
- Unplug the dryer and remove the front or top panel to reach the drum.
- Note how the old belt routes around the motor pulley and tensioner, then lift it off.
- Loop the new belt around the drum, ribbed side against the pulleys, and thread it through the tensioner and motor pulley.
- Turn the drum by hand two full turns to check the belt is centred, then refit the panel.

The drive belt carries the motor’s rotation to the drum. When it stretches, frays or snaps, the motor runs but the drum won’t turn, you may hear squealing on startup, or smell hot rubber. A new belt restores the spin and tumble the machine had when new.
