Water on the laundry floor after a wash, or black mould in the door rubber that cleaning will not shift, means the door gasket is done. Fitting the new seal is a methodical hour with two spring bands — fiddly, not difficult.
What you will need
- The correct Solt door gasket for your model
- Flat-blade screwdriver and pliers
- A little dish soap for the seal lips — never grease or oil on a door seal
- A towel for trapped water
Step by step
- Open the door and remove the outer retaining band. The band sits in the seal’s outer lip against the cabinet front. Find its spring or clamp point, ease it off with the flat blade, and set it aside the way it came off.
- Peel the old seal off the front lip and note its markers. Door seals are keyed: look for the drain holes at the bottom and any alignment marks at twelve o’clock. Photograph before pulling it free of the tub lip — the new seal goes on in exactly this orientation.
- Clean both lips thoroughly. Scrape the old sludge line off the tub lip and cabinet lip. A new seal on a dirty lip leaks from day one; this five minutes is the difference between a dry floor and a repeat job.
- Seat the new seal on the tub lip first. Start at the bottom with the drain holes down, work the inner lip onto the tub ring evenly around, and check the full circumference twice. A smear of dish soap makes the rubber cooperate.
- Refit the inner band, then the outer lip and outer band. Bands seat in their channels all the way around — work opposite quadrants like a car wheel rather than chasing one direction. Fold the outer lip onto the cabinet ring and refit the outer band the same way.
- Test with a short hot-free cycle. Run a rinse cycle and watch the door rim and the floor. Then run a towel load and check again — some leaks only show under load.
Questions along the way
The new seal leaks in one spot — did I get a faulty seal?
Almost always it is seating, not the seal: a section of the inner lip not fully on the tub ring, or a band that skipped its channel at that point. Pull the outer band and re-check that quadrant before anything else.
Can I just clean the mould off the old seal instead?
Surface mould responds to cleaning; mould inside the rubber folds and any splits or stiffness do not. Once the rubber has hardened or cracked, cleaning changes the look but not the leak.

On the model sticker inside the door frame. GGSFLW60 is the 6 kg machine and GGSFLW900B the 9 kg — the seal listing covers both, but confirm yours before ordering.
