Confirm it’s the bearing
- Unplug the dryer and turn the drum by hand. A worn bearing feels rough, gritty or stiff, and may grind audibly.

- Push the drum gently front-to-back and side-to-side. Noticeable play or rocking points to a worn rear support.
- Slip the belt off and spin the drum again — if it still grinds and resists, the bearing is the cause; if it now spins smoothly, suspect the belt or idler instead.
Always do the belt at the same time: you have to remove the belt to reach the bearing anyway, and a worn bearing usually leaves the belt glazed. Fitting both keeps it quiet for years.

Replace the bearing and belt (an afternoon)
- Unplug at the wall. If wall-mounted, lift the dryer down onto a bench.
- Remove the front panel and drum following your model’s layout — photograph the belt and drum position first.
- Lift the belt off and withdraw the drum to expose the rear bearing and support.
- Remove the worn bearing from the rear shaft or housing and clean the seat.
- Fit the new bearing and support, seating it square so the drum runs true.
- Reinstall the drum and loop the new belt around it, the motor pulley and the idler in the original routing.
- Turn the drum by hand to check it runs quiet and true, then refit the panel, restore power and run a short empty cycle.
