Quick answer: AEG dryers use the Electrolux dryer code system. E20 to E24 are condensate drain faults on condenser and heat pump models (container full, pump, hose), E31 to E33 the humidity sensing, E40 to E43 the door lock, E50 to E54 the motor, E61 to E64 the heater, E70 to E74 the temperature sensors, E91 to E94 the electronics and EH0 to EH2 the supply. Empty the container, clean every filter and check the drain hose; a code that returns after a restart names the part.

AEG dryers, like AEG washers, are built on the Electrolux platform, so their E-codes read the same way: the first digit is the system, the second the detail. E20 is the condensate system, E50 the motor, E60 the heater, E70 the sensors. On models without a full display the code shows as a C-number or as beeps and flashes, with C2 standing in for E20.
This guide covers the AEG vented, condenser and heat pump dryers sold in Australia, including the 7000, 8000 and 9000 series AbsoluteCare and SensiDry models and the older Lavatherm range. For each code you get the plain meaning, the likely cause and the part or check that clears it. Most AEG dryer codes are lint or condensate; the parts behind the rest are the drain pump, the belt and the sensors.
AEG dryer error codes: quick-reference table
Codes are listed as they appear on the display. Where two generations of the platform use different codes for the same fault, both are shown. Always confirm against the manual for your exact model before ordering a part.
| Code | What it means | Most likely cause | What to do / the part |
|---|---|---|---|
| E20 / E21 / E22 (C2) | Condensate not draining: container full, pump not pumping, pump blocked | Container not emptied, lint in the condensate pump, drain hose kinked or too high | Empty the container; clean the pump chamber of lint; straighten the hose; replace the condensate pump if it hums without pumping |
| E23 / E24 | Condensate pump circuit fault | Pump coil open, board | Replace the condensate pump |
| E31 / E32 / E33 | Humidity (conductivity) sensor fault | Sensor bars dirty or corroded, wiring | Clean the metal sensor bars inside the drum with vinegar; check the wiring |
| E40 / E41 / E42 / E43 | Door not closed, or door lock fault | Door open, catch worn, door switch failed | Close firmly; replace the door catch or switch |
| E50 / E51 / E52 / E53 / E54 | Motor faults: speed, triac, tacho, relay | Motor, tacho, capacitor, belt off the pulley | Check the belt is on the pulley; replace the capacitor or motor |
E61 / E62 / E63 / E64 | Heater faults: not heating, too slow, relay, element | Heating element, thermostat, relay | Test the element and thermostats; replace the failed part — fit the Omega and Euromaid Dryer Heat Restore Kit OCD40WA DM4KG ED45KG (Element, Capacitor, Belt, |
| E70 / E71 / E72 / E73 / E74 | Temperature sensor faults (front and rear sensors) | Sensor open or short, wiring | Replace the temperature sensor |
| E91 / E92 / E93 / E94 | Electronics communication and configuration faults | Board, cable, configuration | Power off at the wall for a minute; service if it repeats |
| EH0 / EH1 / EH2 | Supply voltage or frequency out of range | Supply, board | Check the supply; power-cycle |
Drum not turning, motor runs | Belt broken | Wear | Replace the belt — fit the Westinghouse & Electrolux Dryer Belt, Idler Pulley & Rear Drum Bearing Kit — Drum Belt + P |
| Dries slowly, no code | Airflow restricted | Filters, heat exchanger, vent hose | Clean every filter and the heat exchanger |
| Container symbol with empty container | Float or level sensing in the container | Float stuck | Clean the container float channel |
E20 on a condenser or heat pump dryer
E20 is the AEG dryer code owners see most, and it is the condensate system. Empty the water container and push it fully home. If the code returns, lint has reached the condensate pump in the base: unplug the dryer, remove the plinth panel or the pump cover, and clear the pump chamber and the float. If an external drain hose is fitted, check it is not kinked and its outlet is under about a metre high. A pump that hums without pumping after that is replaced, and it is a plug-in part.
E31 to E33: the sensor bars
Auto-dry programs read moisture through two metal bars inside the drum near the door. Fabric softener and lint coat them and the dryer either stops early or shows an E3x code. Wipe the bars with vinegar or a fine abrasive pad until they shine. If the code stays with clean bars, the wiring to the bars has failed.
Belt, heater and sensors
A drum that will not turn while the motor runs is the belt. No heat with the drum turning is the element or a thermostat, and on this platform they are tested for continuity behind the rear panel. E70-series codes are the temperature sensors, small thermistors that fail open with age and are replaced as plug-in parts.

Is it safe to fix an error code yourself?
Most of the codes above are cleared with a filter clean, a hose check or a plug-in part swap, and those are ordinary DIY jobs: unplug the machine, photograph the wiring before you unplug anything, and never bypass a door lock or a thermal cut-out. Anything involving the sealed refrigerant circuit, gas, or a mains-side repair belongs with a licensed repairer.
Frequently asked questions
How do I reset a AEG dryer error code?
Switch the machine off, turn it off at the wall for one minute, then restart the program. A code that returns as soon as the machine reaches the same step is a real fault and needs the check or part in the table.
What does E20 mean on an AEG dryer?
The condensate is not draining. Empty the container, clean lint from the condensate pump chamber and check the drain hose; replace the pump if it hums without pumping.
What is E32 on an AEG dryer?
A humidity sensor fault. Clean the two metal sensor bars inside the drum with vinegar; if the code stays, the sensor wiring has failed.
Why does my AEG dryer run but the drum does not turn?
The belt has broken or come off. Replace the belt and check the tensioner.
What does E60 or E61 mean on an AEG dryer?
A heating fault. Test the heating element and thermostats behind the rear panel and replace the failed part.
Where is the model number on a AEG dryer?
Open the door and look at the sticker on the door rim or frame. The model reads like T8DEE845 or T7DEE832E. Use it to match parts or run it through our Part Finder.
