Fitting Overview
- Unplug the dryer. Remove the front (or top) panel to expose the drum, belt and motor.
- Slip the old belt off, unclip the idler pulley from its arm and fit the new pulley; note which way the old belt ran (ribs against the drum).
- Lift the drum forward, replace the rear drum bearing (and clean the felt or seat), then loop the new belt around the drum, under the pulley and over the motor shaft.
- Refit the panels, plug in and run the dryer empty for two minutes — it should turn quietly with no squeal.
Unplug the appliance before you start. Many owners fit this themselves with a model-specific video; if you would rather not, any local repairer can fit the parts you supply.

My dryer squeals — do I need all three parts?
A squeal on start-up is usually the idler pulley or the rear drum bearing, and a belt that has been running over a rough pulley is already glazed. Fitting all three while the cabinet is open is the repair that stays quiet; fitting only a belt over a worn pulley usually squeals again within weeks.
How hard is it to fit?
It is a common home repair: the front or top panel comes off, the drum lifts forward, and the belt, pulley and bearing are all reachable with a screwdriver and a socket set. Allow about an hour, unplug the dryer first, and photograph the belt routing before you remove the old one.
