Why the door seal leaks
The boot is the flexible rubber gasket between the drum and the door glass. It flexes thousands of times a wash and cops hot water, detergent and whatever’s left in pockets. It fails in a few predictable ways:

Confirm the seal is the leak
- Run a short hot cycle and watch where the water appears. Door-seal leaks show at the front, under the door, during the wash and tumble.
- With the machine off, peel back the boot’s front lip and run a finger around the inside — feel for tears, sticky perished patches, or trapped debris.
- Check the lower front of the fold, the most common tear point, where coins and underwires get flung.
- If the boot is intact and clean but you still get water on the floor, the leak is elsewhere — suspect the pump, hoses or dispenser.
Before you replace it: a mouldy but undamaged seal sometimes just needs a deep clean — scrub the folds and run a hot maintenance wash. If the rubber is torn or perished, it has to be replaced; a patch won’t hold.

Replace the door seal (about an hour)
- Unplug at the wall and turn off the taps.
- Open the door and lever off the outer retaining band (a spring-loaded wire) around the front lip of the boot.
- Peel the boot’s front lip off the cabinet, noting the drain-hole position (it sits at the bottom).
- Release the inner band at the drum and pull the old boot free.
- Fit the new boot onto the drum lip first, lining the locating mark to the bottom, then refit the inner band.
- Seat the front lip onto the cabinet and refit the outer band — make sure it’s fully home all the way round.
- Restore power and water and run a short hot rinse to check for leaks before a full load.
