Why a Stirling stops spinning
The drive belt is a thin flat ribbed rubber loop that runs from the motor pulley around the back of the drum. It does all the work of the spin, and it’s the part that wears:

Confirm it’s the belt
- Make sure the machine has actually drained — a Stirling won’t spin with water in the drum. If it hasn’t drained, that’s a draining problem, not the belt.
- Unplug at the wall. Tilt the machine and look underneath, or take the back panel off to see the belt and pulley.
- Spin the drum by hand. If it turns with no resistance and the belt is loose, off, or missing, that’s your answer. A glazed, cracked or stretched belt also needs replacing.
Fit the new belt (about 30–45 minutes)
- Unplug at the wall and turn off the taps.
- Remove the back panel to expose the drum pulley and motor.
- Slip the old belt off the pulley (rotate the drum by hand to walk it off).
- Loop the new belt onto the motor pulley first, then onto the drum pulley, rotating the drum to seat it square in the grooves.
- Check the tension — it should be snug with a little give, running central on the pulley.
- Refit the panel, restore power and run a short spin to confirm.
Match your model: most Stirling front loaders use the STR-FLW80W belt, but check the code on your model sticker — STR-FLW8WW1 and others take their own belt.
