Two machines can sit side by side in a laundry, look the same from a metre away, and still take different door seals, hoses and valves because they belong to different production runs. The full model number on the model sticker is the only reliable way to tell them apart.
Guessing from the machine’s appearance, or from a model name half remembered from the day it was bought, is how wrong parts get ordered. A Haier HWF75AW1 and an HWF85AN1 read almost identically at a glance, yet the differences in that short code point to different capacities and different part sets. Haier washing machine models sold in Australia typically read like HWF75AW1 or HWF85AN1. The letters at the front identify the product family, the digits usually track the capacity (75 on a 7.5 kg machine, on most models), and the trailing letters and digit identify the exact variant. Haier fridge codes generally start with HRF or HR6 followed by digits and letters.
The trap with Haier is the suffix. HWF75AW1 and HWF85AN1 differ by only a few characters, and the letters after the digits are doing real work: AW1 and AN1 are different machines that take, among other things, different door seals. Order a door seal for an AW1 when your sticker actually says AN1 and the seal you receive belongs to a different machine. The model sticker also carries a serial number, which is usually longer and mostly numeric. The serial identifies your individual unit and its production date, and it is not what decides which parts fit.
