Fitting it yourself
Pull the plug out of the wall before a screw comes out, and leave it out until the panels are back on. Two rules sit above the rest: the refrigerant circuit is sealed and is licensed work, so never open, vent or top up the heat pump side, and never bypass the door lock switch to keep a machine running.
The jobs here sort into three levels. Easy: the door seal, the airflow checks and the drain pump, which sits low and comes out with the front or base panel off. Moderate: the drum belt, tension wheel, pulley and the fan and shaft, where the front panel and drum come out — photograph the belt route first, and if the machine has been rumbling too, do the drum bearing in the same teardown rather than opening it twice. Leave to a repairer: the drive motor, the front drum guides and anything behind the control panel. The run capacitor holds a charge after the power is off and sits on the 240V side, so that one is for a licensed person.
