Quick answer: A Beko washing machine drain pump (drain pump motor) pushes the water out of the tub at the end of each wash and rinse. The first sign of failure is usually this: water still in the drum at the end of the cycle, or a drain error on the display. Replacement drain pumps for Beko washing machines run about $30–60; a pump is a mid-priced part and the repair takes under an hour. Match the full model number on your Beko sticker (BFL8510MG, BFL853ADW, WFA100S-RL, WFA100W-RL and more) against the listing title before you order.

What the drain pump does on a Beko washing machine
The drain pump pushes the water out of the tub at the end of each wash and rinse. On Beko washing machines sold in Australia the same part is shared across model families, which is why one listing covers several model numbers, and why two drain pumps that look alike are not interchangeable: the housing, the outlet angle and the plug differ between families. The full model number on your sticker settles it.
Pull the plug before you open anything, and expect water: drain through the filter before you tip the machine.
Symptoms of a failed Beko drain pump
| What you see | What it usually means |
|---|---|
| Water still in the drum at the end of the cycle, or a drain error on the display | The pump is not moving water: jammed, seized or burnt out |
| A loud hum or buzz when the machine should be draining | The impeller is jammed by a coin, bra wire or hair clip, or the motor has seized |
| The machine drains slowly and the spin is weak or skipped | A partly blocked pump or a worn impeller; the board skips spin while water remains |
| A small leak under the machine that appears only when it drains | The pump housing or its seal has cracked |
Is it really the drain pump?
Nine times out of ten a drain fault is the filter, not the pump. Open the flap at the bottom front, drain into a tray, unscrew the filter and clear it. Spin the impeller behind it with a finger: it should turn in notchy steps. Then check the drain hose is not kinked or pushed too far into the standpipe. Only when the filter is clean, the hose is clear and the drum still holds water is it the pump.
Where is the model sticker on a Beko washing machine
Inside the door rim with the door open, or behind the detergent drawer. Write the full code down, letters and numbers, or photograph it: the suffix matters, and the badge on the front of the machine is not enough. Our Beko model number guide has photos of each spot.
Which Beko drain pump is listed for your model
One row per model number as it appears on the sticker. The part column is the listing title, which names every model that listing covers.

Replacing the drain pump: the job in order
- Pull the plug and drain the machine through the filter at the bottom front, towels and a tray down.
- On most front loaders the pump sits directly behind that filter housing. Lay the machine on its back or remove the kick panel, depending on the model.
- Photograph the plug and the two hoses, then release the hose clamps and the plug.
- Undo the screws or twist-lock that hold the pump to the housing, and lift it out.
- Install the new pump the same way round, reinstall the hoses and clamps, and plug it in. Check the filter is screwed home.
- Stand the machine up, plug in, and run a rinse and spin with an empty drum. Watch underneath for drips.
DIY or a repairer?
For most people this is a DIY job: a pump is a mid-priced part and the repair takes under an hour. A repairer’s call-out in Australia is in the $100–165 band before the part, so the saving is the labour. Use a licensed repairer if the appliance is hard-wired, if you find burnt or melted wiring, if gas or sealed refrigerant is involved, or if the new part does not cure the fault, because the next suspect is usually the control board and that is fitted after diagnosis, not before.
Frequently asked questions
The drum is full of water and the door is locked. How do I get the water out safely?
Do not force the door. Pull the plug, open the flap at the bottom front, put down towels and a shallow tray, and ease the drain filter open a quarter turn at a time so the water comes out slowly. On some models there is a small emergency drain hose behind the same flap. Once the drum is empty and the machine has been off for a few minutes, the door lock releases.
How do I tell a jammed pump from a dead one?
With the filter out, turn the impeller with a finger. If it is locked solid, clear the obstruction and try a cycle. If it spins freely but the machine still hums and does not drain, the motor has failed.
Is the pump the same across the brand's range?
No. Pumps differ in the housing, the outlet angle and the plug. Match the full model number on your sticker against the listing title, not the look of the pump.
Do I need a repairer?
A pump is a plug and two hoses and most people manage it. Call a repairer if the machine is hard-wired, if you find burnt wiring, or if a new pump still will not drain.
Why did it fail?
Most pumps die from what went through them: coins, hair clips, bra wires and lint. Clean the filter every month or two and the next pump lasts.
