Replace it (30 to 60 minutes):
- Unplug the machine, drain it through the emergency hose and open the filter cover.
- Remove the kick panel, photograph the wiring, then unplug the pump connector.
- Release the pump from the housing or hoses, fit the new pump and reconnect the wiring and hoses.
- Refit the filter and run a rinse cycle to check it drains and does not leak.

The drain pump pushes used water out of the machine at the end of each wash and spin stage. When it fails or jams you’ll typically find water still sitting in the drum, cycles stopping partway with a drain error, or a humming pump that moves no water. A working pump gets cycles finishing properly again.
