The door interlock locks the door during operation and tells the control board it’s safe to start. When it fails the machine won’t start at all, the door won’t release after a cycle, or a door error appears. A new interlock restores normal starting and locking.
Many owners fit this themselves; if you’d rather not, any local repairer can fit the part you supply.

Disconnect power. Open the door and remove the door seal clamp to access the interlock. Unscrew the old interlock, disconnect the wiring harness, and connect the new one. Refit the mounting screws and door seal clamp.
