The drain pump pushes used water out of the machine at the end of each wash and spin stage. When it fails or jams you’ll typically find water still sitting in the drum, cycles stopping partway with a drain error, or a humming pump that moves no water. A working pump gets cycles finishing properly again.

Disconnect power and lay towels down — residual water will spill. Access the pump from the front or bottom panel, disconnect the hoses and electrical connector, unscrew the mounting, and fit the new pump in reverse order. Run an empty drain cycle to test.
