Quick answer: The most common repairs on LG’s Australian WV-series front loaders (WV5, WV7 and WV9, plus the WVC5 and WVC9 washer-dryer combos) are worn drum bearings (lip seal and bearings kits from $56.95), a leaking or mouldy door seal (from $54.95), and a failed door lock switch ($42.69). Every part on this page is in stock and confirmed to suit specific WV-series model numbers — match your model sticker before ordering.

Which LG WV-series machine do you have?
The WV range is LG’s current family of front-load washing machines sold in Australia. The number after the WV prefix is the series tier — WV5, WV7 and WV9 — and models with a WVC prefix (WVC5, WVC9) are the washer-dryer combo versions of the same platform. A typical full model number looks like WV5-1409W or WVC9-1410W, and it is printed on the model sticker inside the door opening.
Because the series share a common platform, many parts fit across several models — but not across the whole range. The bearing kits, door seals and switches below are each listed against the exact model numbers they suit. Always confirm the full model number from your model sticker (including the letter suffix) before ordering, as the WV9 door seal, for example, comes in two different versions depending on the exact model.
| Series | Example models | Type |
|---|---|---|
| WV5 | WV5-1275W, WV5-1408W, WV5-1409W, WV5-1410W | Front-load washer |
| WV7 | WV7-1408W, WV7-1409W, WV7-1208W | Front-load washer |
| WV9 | WV9-1408B, WV9-1409W, WV9-1410W, WV9-1412W, WV9-1610W | Front-load washer |
| WVC5 | WVC5-1409W, WVC5-1410W | Washer-dryer combo |
| WVC9 | WVC9-1410W, WVC9-1412B, WVC9-1412W | Washer-dryer combo |
Common faults and the parts that fix them
The WV platform’s wear points are the same ones every hard-working front loader has: the drum bearings and lip seal, the door gasket seal, and the door lock assembly. On the combo models the door seal also works harder because the drum sees both wash moisture and drying heat. The table below matches each fault to the exact-fit part for your series.

Diagnosis guide – LG WV series
- Note any error code first. If the display shows a code, write it down before anything else. A door code points at the lock switch or the latch hook; a fill or level code points at the pressure switch; a drain code points at the pump. Our LG drain guide covers the drain side in detail.
- Listen during the spin cycle. A low grinding or jet-engine rumble that rises with drum speed is the classic sign of failed drum bearings. Spin the empty drum by hand — roughness, play, or a rocking movement at the drum lip confirms it. The full walkthrough is in our LG loud-on-spin guide.
- Inspect the door seal. Run your fingers around the whole boot, especially the bottom section where water pools. Cracks, splits, or mould that has penetrated the rubber mean replacement — on the WV9 make sure you order the version matching your exact model number.
- Test the door lock. Close the door firmly and press Start. If the machine never proceeds to fill and flags the door, the lock switch has usually failed. If the door won’t even latch mechanically, check the plastic lock hook first — it is a fraction of the price of the switch.
- Watch the water level. If the machine overfills, underfills, or stalls between wash and spin with no obvious drain problem, the pressure switch that senses water level is the likely culprit.
Fitting the parts yourself
Door seals, door lock switches and the lock hook are all accessible from the front of the machine — the seal is held by two spring-wire clamp bands, and the lock switch is reached by removing the boot’s front clamp and reaching behind the cabinet front. Allow under an hour for a seal and about twenty minutes for a lock switch. The pressure switch sits under the top panel, held by two screws and a hose — one of the easiest jobs on the machine.
Bearing replacement is the big job on any front loader: the outer tub has to come apart, the old bearings pressed out and the new lip seal seated evenly. Allow ninety minutes to two hours with a socket set and patience, and watch a walkthrough before you start if it’s your first time. The kits above include the lip seal and both bearings, so everything wears in together. If you’d rather hand it to a technician, the parts cost stays the same modest figure — only labour varies.
Frequently asked questions
Why is my LG WV series washer so loud on spin?
A grinding rumble that builds with drum speed almost always means the drum bearings have failed. Water gets past the lip seal, washes out the bearing grease, and the noise grows from there. The lip seal and bearings kits above are matched to each WV series — and our dedicated bearing guide walks through confirming the fault.
Are WV5 and WV7 parts interchangeable?
Often, yes — the bearing kit and door seal listed above are both confirmed for WV5 and WV7 models (and several WV3 and WV6 machines). The WV9 and the WVC combos use different seals and kits, so always match the full model number on your model sticker against the listing’s fitment list.
Which door seal fits my WV9?
There are two: one for the WV9-1408B, WV9-1409B, WV9-1409W and WV9-1410B, and another for the WV9-1412B, WV9-1412W, WV9-1609B, WV9-1610B and WV9-1610W. Check the model sticker inside the door opening and pick the listing that names your exact model.
Do WVC combo models use different parts to the washers?
Yes. The WVC5 and WVC9 washer-dryer combos have their own door seals and bearing kits — the drying function means the seal profile differs from the washer-only models. Both combo seals and both combo bearing kits are listed above.
Where is the model sticker on an LG WV series washer?
Inside the door opening, on the frame that is exposed when the door is open. It shows the full model number — for example WV9-1410W — which is what every fitment list on this page refers to.
Is it worth repairing a WV series machine?
Almost always. These are current-generation machines, and the common repairs — seal, lock, pressure switch — are all well under a hundred dollars in parts. Even a full bearing job costs less in parts than a small fraction of a comparable new front loader.
